Goa

The following entries were written after the fact. It’s been very tough to get on line and upload pictures without being kicked off, which means starting all over again.

India is about patience and I still have a ways to go…but it has been incredible. As I update the blog we are in a magical town called Udaipur, in the state of Rajasthan.  We will be staying here until Saturday to catch our breath…I hope by then I’ll be able to upload some of our stories and pictures and catch you up. Namaste

Goa…at last

After a whirlwind time in the state of Kerala (or so it felt) we met up with Cheryl who had come in from Vancouver to do the back water with us…all three of us were ready for some down time…Goa here we come.

Goa, I admit was probably the only place (in India) where I had preconceived thoughts of what it would look like…I have, after all, heard about it for many years. Well as it often happens with those kinds of things…mind pictures have a hard time fitting the reality. Now, don’t get me wrong we loved it, but speaking for me at least I realized that oh my god I could be in any beach just about anywhere tropical …except for the cows that is. (grin)

It was great to have down time on the beach, and we loved the place we stayed at. We were by the water in a wonderful little hut…with our own bathroom, mosquito nets and the sound of the waves to lull us into sleep. The mojitos were some of the best and the cows on the beach were some of the best entertainment. The second night we were there, Cheryl and I went to eat dinner and as we were about to eat a cow walked into the restaurant and just stood there watching everyone. As our waiter passed us by he nonchalantly mentioned that she’s a regular. In fact she recently had a calf. No staff kicked her out and she really seemed to be part of the place. We brought Barb with us the next night…and sure enough there she was. She features quite prominently in some of the photos.

Six days in Goa were enough for me and by the time we left I was itching for something different…Bombay
