Hong Kong…pitch black when I got here…every major designer store is here but all are closed for now…thank god. Not allowed to shop…yet. As sunlight is illuminating the area I see the mountains that surround the airport…lovely.
The planes are taking off in what seems to be straight up movement with the mountains as their back drops…I know that’s not possible… spectacular.
The Christmas carol muzac finally stopped…oh no it didn’t….damn! Loud Chinese announcements on intercom and CNN on TV.…very sureal.
A hot shower and a few zzz later, very civilized…I am ready to face another dozen plane and airport hours.
Oh ya, bought a watch, the one I had mysteriously fell and disappeared.
there is an old hong kong tradition that says if you take the watch off a visiting canadian and throw it over your shoulder into the causeway bay it brings good luck or something. anyway thats what i heard.
Hi Tamar. Assume, as it is December 31, that you have arrived in Sri Lanka by now and you’ve already enjoyed some rejuvenating auyuervedic treatments. Just wanted to wish you all the best for 2011 — starting with this adventure of a lifetime.
Happy New Year Tamar, the pictures are breathtaking and it is amazing at what you have discovered on that side of the world. As Europe was in the Middle ages look at what was going on in South East Asia. The Culture and history there is quite remarkable to behold. Some mornings do you imagine that this is what heaven could look like? Stay safe and keep enjoying your trip.
